all this time...
i've been lying, pretending that my CD changer holds
5 discs, when in fact it only holds 3. Well, now that i'm staying
in my pal mark's apartment in brooklyn, the cd changer here actually
does hold five. and while i'm sure nobody cares, i feel a hell
of a lot better. anyway, these are some CDs that I'm listening to
the most these days... |
the gza : beneath
the surface
|
i just picked
up the gza's brand new album at an appearance he made at the WIZ in
union square. (hence the autograph.) the album sounds quite good,
and the cover illustration happens to be by the liquid
design group, which is my workplace. |
herbie hancock : cantaloupe
island
|
the title
track to this one is familiar to most people, made popular when it
was sampled by Us3 a few years back. the herbie hancock original dates
back to 1964, and is contained on this compilation of tracks from
'63 to '65. good stuff. |
three fish : the quiet table
|
a great album.
i recently saw these guys perform at the wetlands preserve in manhattan.
it was an incredible show, full of sitars, bongos, keyboards, guitars,
drums, and bass by a guy named jeff. i highly recommend the album,
and seeing the live show if they play in a club near you.

everlast : whitey ford sings the blues
|
this one
surprised me - it's really quite good. i was a little skeptical at
first, but when i heard the whole album, i became really interested.
a lot of cool tracks, and the disc starts out with a fat boys cover.
need i say more? |
radiohead : airbag / how am i driving?
|
this is an EP with songs from the ok computer era, starting with "airbag" and then going off on some interesting tangents, (like the strong hip-hop beat on the instrumental "meeting in the aisle"...)
|
so that's that. stay tuned to the CD changer to check for updates!
